Improvement Plan for session:

2005-2006













This is what we have achieved during the past year:

Curriculum:

Mathematics ? the implementation of the City of

Edinburgh Programme of Study

Environmental Studies ? the implementation of the

City of Edinburgh Programme of Study for Science,

Social Subjects and Technology

Citizenship ? the addition of citizenship targets to

the already existing Structured Social Time

Programme of Study ? to create a new

Citizenship/Structured Social Time Policy and

Programme of Study

Enterprise Education ? opportunities are built into

Environmental Studies curriculum and every child

has an opportunity to participate in activities for a

minimum of once per session

Attainment and Learning and Teaching:

Staff were involved in monitoring forward planning

and target setting procedures. Formative

Assessment strategies such as sharing learning

intentions and success criteria with children and

marking were embedded into the classrooms

Support for Pupils:

A pupil council is now running in the school and feedback has

been very positive

Children that are unable to participate in class based activities

are now given alternative learning activities to meet their

needs

Ethos:

The Child and Family team have supported parents in

coming into the service for reviews and other meetings with

the Effective Learning and Teaching Team and class teachers.

Resources:

Mathematics and Environmental Studies resources were

audited and reorganised to meet the needs of the Programme

of Studies

Other Achievements:

Eight children in the service have taken part in inclusion opportunities in mainstream provision. Two children are now back at mainstream schools full time.

There was a successful Christmas evening for parents organised by the Child and Family Team.

All classes in the Service have participated in a variety of outdoor education activities ?? skiing, gorge walking and canoeing,

Children have participated in a variety of different activities with outside providers - Dance Base, Jammin? Andy, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and Kid?s Out sponsored by the Edinburgh Rotary.

Team C has obtained football strips (through an Enterprise Education activity) and formed a football team. They have played 4 games against other schools/organisations. Back to top
